For over 30 years, The Grove Counseling Center, Inc. has been treating alcohol abuse, drug abuse and behavioral health problems in Seminole County and surrounding areas. Dr. Luis Perez of Sanford founded the Grove as a non-profit organization in 1971 under the name Drug Action Committee of Seminole County. Dr. Perez headed a group of concerned citizens who believed that strengthening the family unit was the key to attacking the growing problem of substance abuse. Under stable leadership, The Grove has developed a solid reputation around the state. The Grove has carried out its mission of offering the highest quality Outpatient and Residential Treatment Programs without regard to socioeconomic background.
In 1987, The Grove accepted responsibility for operating the only publicly funded residential treatment program for adolescent substance abusers in ADM District 7. As a result of success in this endeavor, the Department of Juvenile Justice funded a second residential facility. In 1996, the District 7 Office of Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health recognized The Grove for superior performance in the areas of clinical treatment, record keeping, and reporting.
The Grove is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation
Facilities and licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
