Position: Contract Adolescent Group Counselor, Brevard County (~5 hours per week)
FUNCTION: Perform group counseling services as needed for clients of The Grove Counseling Center, Inc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitors client needs and develops treatment plans and goals.
2. Documents client progress, case management tasks, evaluations functions, and maintains accurate case file administration consistent with HRS regulations.
3. Supervises, provides guidance, trains, and interprets policies and procedures, and rules for milieu therapists and other ancillary staff.
4. Facilitates group therapy sessions.
5. Conducts process groups.
6. Maintains liaison with specific referral sources as appropriate.
7. Implements clinical direction for clients and families.
8. Documents all cost center service information, for the patient tracking system, for group attendance, daily service, staff activity, ancillary service, client registration and movement services.
9. Reports all "gaps" in service, community dysfunction, rule policy, and procedure non-compliance to Program Director.
10. Maintains an up to date knowledge of and compliance with all pertinent agency and state rules, policies, and regulations.
11. Performs other clinical related tasks as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. A thorough knowledge of group dynamics and the required skills to effectively facilitate group therapy.
2. An ability to deal effectively with components of The Grove, other agencies and other individuals.
3. An ability to use initiative and creativity in effective problem solving.
4. A thorough understanding of the disease of Chemical Dependency and the recovery process.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
1. Master’s Degree in a human service field.
2. Certified Addictions Professional as recognized by the Certification Board of Addictions Professionals of Florida – Preferred.
3. At least three (3) years’ experience in provisions of Chemical Dependency and counseling services.
4. Up to two (2) years of applicable education may be substituted for one (1) year work related experience.
5. Valid Florida driver’s license and cleared motor vehicle report.
COMPENSATION: $16/hour
