Learning Coping Skills

I have been at the Grove for about a month and half, but in my time here I learned several coping skills with my anger, worked on family problems and my drugs problems. I have a better relationship with my mom and I don’t feel the urge to use drugs to mess up my life. If the Grove wasn’t here I would probably be in jail or planning to do something stupid so I could go to jail. I thank you guys so much for helping us rebuild the Grove....

Changing old ways

The best thing I got from this place is sobriety. If I wasn’t here I would be on the streets right now doing drugs and drinking every day like I used to or I would probably be in jail. Thank you for changing my old ways....

The Grove saved me.

The Grove saved me. This place got me off of the streets, and helps me out of jail. The staff is so supportive, and the counselors are amazing. I had absolutely no value at all for my life. I'd constantly get high, sell my body, overdose, and be on the run. I was living a terrible life, but here I've learned that I DO have value and I've gained self-respect. I've also wounded the broken ties with my family. I don’t even want to imagine where I’d be if I wasn’t put in this place...

Freedom

I actually like the Grove a lot. I get three meals a day, nightly shower, exercise and schooling. All things I don’t get at home. Plus I have more freedom here. I actually like it here better than home which is why I’m staying here for Christmas even thought I can leave if I wanted to....

Learn How to Trust

If it weren’t for the Grove I’d probably either be in jail, another state or dead with a dead baby. Since I’ve arrived at the Grove my relationship with my mom and boyfriend has gotten so much better. I’ve learned how to trust those three things. They are really important to me, because my boyfriend and mom are all I have left and without trust, I would be completely lost them. When I look back I’m ashamed and embarrassed of what I’ve done to them and myself, ...

Experience, Stregth and Hope

My name is Tia and I am 40 years old. I am honored to share my experience, strength and hope with those considering treatment. I am the youngest of 15 children. I first went to jail at a young age for selling drugs. It would be the first of many trips. It was in jail that I became seriously addicted to substances. I learned to trade my body for the next high. When I left jail the third time, I was 92 pounds, homeless, and had no idea where my children were. I moved to Florida to leave behind the...
